Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest:
I am so honored to announce that I am the third place winner of the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest for my song "Serigene". I have been given the opportunity to play a set at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 11th. I am very excited to take the trip out to Oklahoma to perform at this event especially because the festival pays tribute to the memory of Woody Guthrie who is one of my personal heroes. I admire the strong and lasting influence that he made on folk music. He spread the word of the common man and fought for peace, equality and freedom for all regardless of race and gender.
Some History of the festival:
The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival was founded in 1998 to celebrate the life and music of Woody Guthrie. It is held annually on the weekend closest to July 14th (which was Woody Guthrie's birthday) in Okemah, Ok (Guthrie's hometown).

"Under the Lens"
"Under the Lens" includes an eclectic blend of musical genres, ranging from pop/rock to blues and urban folk. This CD features eleven tracks of original music played, performed and recorded by Kelly Izzo. Kelly’s a regular performer at coffeehouses and clubs in and around the NYC area and has been praised for her pure voice and quirky lyrical style.
